Mookie Betts Has the Fifth Most Leadoff Home Runs in MLB History

According to Sarah Langs, just four other players have more leadoff homer runs than Mookie Betts. His latest leadoff bomb against the Giants gave him 49 career leadoff long balls. Ahead of him are Craig Biggio with 53, Alfonso Soriano with 54, George Springer with 57, and Rickey Henderson with 81.

Mookie Betts now had the most leadoff home runs in Los Angeles Dodgers franchise history.
Across four full seasons and four games in 2024, Mookie Betts has accumulated 29 leadoff home runs with the Dodgers. This broke a tie with Davey Lopes for the most in franchise history. Lopes played with the Dodgers for 10 seasons from 1972-1981.

Even though he is the Dodgers leadoff hitter and smaller in stature, Mookie Betts has been a big home run source throughout his career. In 2023, he hit a career-high 39 home runs, 35 in 2022, and then at least 16+ every year after, except his rookie year in 2014. On four different occasions, he has had seasons with more than 30 home runs.

Betts is just 31 years old. He already has the Dodgers franchise record for leadoff home runs, so it will be interesting to see how far he can climb the MLB record book.
